Scott “ Keg” Codyre took 6/45 in
the tops which is his 7th “5 wicket in an innings” haul
for the club and 1st this season.
The tops are the
first Scarborough/Doubleview/Lake Monger team to win a 1st
Grade Premiership ever – this has taken 32 seasons!! The tops
record in Grand Finals now stands at 3 wins from 5 appearances.
The top side 6
seasons ago finished 2nd last in 2nd grade
(and would have finished last if not for a century by
Graham “Linford” Knowles in the
last game that season to starve off relegation) and have steadily
improved each season since to now win 1st Grade.
The 3rds won 10 of
their last 11 games of the season to claim the 7th Grade
Premiership. The 3rds Grand Final record now stands at 2 wins from
6 appearances.
Garry “Chocko” Powell lined up
in his club record 9th Grand Final.
Chocko has now won 3
premierships.
Keith “Lucky Charm” Manea has
played in a grand final every year since joining the club in 02/03 (ie
7 appearances), now claiming 4 premiership wins - all in a row!!

The tops are the
first Scarborough/Doubleview/Lake Monger team to be playing in a 1st
Grade Grand Final. The tops record in Grand Finals is 2 wins from 4
appearances with the last victory being in 04/05.
The 3rds scored the
highest score for Scarborough in a final with 9/263 in the
Preliminary Final. The 3rds have won 9 of their last 10 games of
the season. The 3rds Grand Final record is 1 win from 5 appearances
with the last victory being in 05/06.

Karrinyup by 1 run the previous weekend, this is the 3rd
time that a Scarborough v Karrinyup game has been decided by 1 run,
with Karrinyup winning 2 games and Scarborough 1. We got the last
laugh though by replacing Karrinyup in the finals with a win on the
weekend!!

The 4ths managed to win outright on
the weekend after losing on the 1st innings with a paltry
1st innings score of just 41 runs!!

achieved the match figures of 11/52 in the 4ths which is his 2nd
“10 wicket” haul for the club. He now joins
Sam Ward and
Roger “Big Boy” Smith has the
only other bowlers with 2 “10 wicket” hauls for SMCC. He took 5/21
and 6/31 which takes his “5 wickets in an innings” hauls to 15, this
now moves him to 2nd spot behind
Mark “Junior” Senior on 18 for the overall SMCC record.

This Thursday
night is the 1st selection night for the year with “Entertainment”

season commences this weekend with the First game starting time at
12.45pm and then from round 2 all games will commence at 1.00pm.
We will be back
to the Bennett Park Clubrooms for Presentations straight after the

The committee is now calling for
captain nominations for the 1st and 2nd
teams only.
Presently we expect to have our 1st
team playing in 1st Grade and our 2nd team
playing in 3rd Grade.
Nominations close on Wednesday 6th
August. Notification of captains will be made after this date.
Nominations for the remaining teams
will be called for closer to the commencement of the actual
season.

married in May 08 to his sweetheart Erin.



Dave Hughes is delighted
to announce the
birth of Harriet Ann
Hughes on 10/4/08 at 2.01 pm.
She weighed in at 3450 gms (7lb 9oz) and 52 cm in length. Everyone
here is all healthy and doing well.
