Did you knows – Grand Final

Scott “ Keg” Codyre took 6/45 in the tops which is his 7th “5 wicket in an innings” haul for the club and 1st this season.

The tops are the first Scarborough/Doubleview/Lake Monger team to win a 1st Grade Premiership ever – this has taken 32 seasons!!  The tops record in Grand Finals now stands at 3 wins from 5 appearances.

The top side 6 seasons ago finished 2nd last in 2nd grade (and would have finished last if not for a century by Graham “Linford” Knowles in the last game that season to starve off relegation) and have steadily improved each season since to now win 1st Grade.

The 3rds won 10 of their last 11 games of the season to claim the 7th Grade Premiership.  The 3rds Grand Final record now stands at 2 wins from 6 appearances.

Garry “Chocko” Powell lined up in his club record 9th Grand Final.  Chocko has now won 3 premierships.

Keith “Lucky Charm” Manea has played in a grand final every year since joining the club in 02/03 (ie 7 appearances), now claiming 4 premiership wins - all in a row!!

Keith “Lucky Charm” Manea with 4 premiership wins breaks Andrew “Atko” Atkins, Steve “Locky” Lockwood, Garry “Chocko” Powell and Andrew “Billy” Billington’s record of 3 premiership wins for Scarborough.

Many players went ‘back to back’ this season winning premierships the past 2 season including Jason ‘JT’ Jeffrey (1sts 08/09 & 2nds 07/08), Dave Spencer (1sts-12th man & 2nds), Roger “Big Boy” Smith (2nds & 3rds), Keith “Lucky Charm” Manea (2nds & 3rds), Matty “Rowdy” McDermott (2nds-12th man & 3rds), Joel Budge Norman (3rds & 4ths), Garry “Chocko” Powell (3rds & 4ths), Tom “The moth” Haines (3rds & 4ths), Ian “Treacle” Jones (3rds & 4ths), Ross “Rossco” Terry(3rds & 4ths).

Mark “Junior” Senior holds the records of 253 games since his last premiership, which was in 91/92.  Mark “Jaws” Woods holds the record of 181 games without ever winning a premiership.

Shane “Bubba” Edwards (9th game) and Kris “the Fat Kiwi” McDonald (10th game) narrowly missed the fewest number of games played for a premiership, with Troy Steven on 8 games for his premiership on 2006/07.

Ray “the good brother” Smith was the club leading run scorer in finals with 131 runs (record still is 145 with Chris Wood in 93/94).

Alan “Syd” Bland, Garry “Chocko” Powell, Mark “Bruiser” Steven and Greg “Grinners” Dimery were the clubs leading fielders in the finals with 4 dismissals (record still is 9 with Garry “Choco” Powell in 90/91)

Roger “Big Boy” Smith was the clubs leading all rounder in the finals with 294 points (breaking the old record of 210 with Rob McCready in 90/91).

The 5ths won their first finals game in the history of the club.  The 5ths finals record is now 1 win from 3 games.

Jack "Jill" Joy is the club leading run scorer in finals so far with 53 runs (record is 145 with Chris Wood in 93/94).

Roger “Big Boy” Smith is the club leading wicket taker in finals so far with 6 wickets (record is 15 with Dave “Huge Arse” Hughes in 01/02).
